Oddities

The tricolor society finch is an oddity. It pops up VERY rarely in pied populations. No one has ever been able to reproduce this type so the feeling is that it is not heritable. My educated guess is that a chocolate split fawn embryo has spontaneous chromosme damage in some cells yielding a mosaic of chocolate split fawn and fawn/fawn cells. Your guess is as good as mine. Don't you wish you could stabalize this type!
