As you will see, sometimes (as with pearls and clearwings) it appears that you can select for regions on the bird with missing or altered pigment, rather than the whole bird being a different color. The "normal" pigmentation without any mutations is considered the chocolate or black brown. Keep in mind chocolates and black browns can be split for recessive pigment mutations. |
