Mutation 3 - Fawn Fawn is a single gene that is recessive to both chocolate and chestnut. Fawn birds can be pale orange or in some backgrounds nearly rust red (as in the "Fox Red", or Red Browns of Europe). The intensity of the redness can be enhanced with years of careful selection for redder birds. The fawn gene is in a series and is not independent of chestnut. You can not have a chocolate carrying both recessive fawn and chestnut. |
