Ino is a sex-linked recessive gene that is strongly influenced by the genetic background that it is in. In the dark chocolate background, the ino mutation results in creamy colored (Band-Aid) birds while in a lighter background (chestnut or fawn) white birds or birds approaching white may result. These are considered inferior inos. Ino is best kept, therefore in a chocolate self background.
