The bonten is most likely the equivalent to the "crested" mutation that already existed in the USA. The crest should be full, not double, and should not cover the eyes. |

Good chiyodas have all of the frilled feathers facing straight upward from a part in the chest. Most chiyodas are not ideal and have some swirling or feathers pointing in the wrong direction. They are all charming. |
|
|
Chunagons are also crested. The genes are inseparable. A good chuunagon should have all feathers pointing up on the back of the neck, like a half-collar. The crest should meet bonten standards. |

Combine the ideal bonten with the ideal chiyoda and you get an idea of what a great chiyoda bonten looks like. I imported two fawn self chiyoda bontens that have perfect frill standards. |

The dainagon is the most difficult to perfect because if combines the best of the chunagon with the chiyoda. The head should appear to erupt from a feather collar with no misdirected feathers. The crest should meet crest standards. |
