Sprouting
Seed
There are many
ways to sprout seed but I find this one is the best for me.
I use only white millet seed. I
soak it in a cereal bowl overnight starting with warm water
(Fig. a). After 12 hours I power wash it by holding my
finger over the faucet and jetting water through the seed
which is now in a metal strainer (Fig. b). This is done for
several minutes.
Clean seed is important. It should possess very little dirt
or plant pieces. It may be worth putting dry seed in a dry
strainer and shaking out dust and particles before the soak
process. The seed is then allowed to drain (Fig. c) for at
least an hour putting the strainer on a slant to let the
water drain out. After an hour I bang the shaker to release
any more water. Seed should be wet but not dripping. I then
dump the seed into a commerical sprouter (Fig. d). I cover
it with the lid provided.
